About the Instructor
Born in Brazil, Ms. Vivien Dall Igna began her musical training, as a pianist, at 10 years of age, with her mother, Annita Gisela Dall'Igna, as her very first teacher. A year later, Vivien's mother nudged her forward, to start private piano lessons, with Mrs. Elenir Carbonera followed by instruction from Ms. Maria Margarete Bianchi. Ms. Vivien continued her musical studies with Sister Maria Clarisse Holz at the Musical Conservatory Francisco Manuel da Silva, Erexim, RS. Studies included Piano, Theory, Harmony, Music History, and Solfège. As she pursued a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts, at the University of Passo Fundo, Passo Fundo, RS, she also studied Piano with Mrs. Maria Virginia Doubt Baron, and at this point, Ms. Vivien, began teaching Piano, herself. She also studied Voice at the Uiversity of Passo Fundo with Mrs. Reny Graeff Sudbrack.
Ms. Vivien made a big move to Rio de Janeiro, to study at the Music School of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, and graduated with a degree in Methodologies of Musical Initiation. It was there, that she also studied Piano with Ms. Maria Yeda Caddah, and later with Mrs. Maria da Penha Verta. In Rio, Ms. Vivien studied Voice with Mr. Jonas Travassos and Suzuki Violin with Mrs. Nicole Lerch.
After making another big move, to the United States, Ms. Vivien first studied Piano Suzuki Method, with Mr. Bruce Anderson. She also studied Piano privately, with Mrs. Christine Hartley, before applying to the University of South Florida. At USF, she studied with Dr. Martha Rearick and Mr. Chadd Merrigan. Upon entering the Piano Performance Program at USF, Ms. Vivien studied Piano with Dr. Averil Summer. While studying Piano, Ms. Vivien, also studied Harp, with Dr. Sue Carole DeVale. Later, she continued her Piano studies with Dr. Rebecca Penneys.
Ms. Vivien Dall Igna's broad musical experience has afforded her the opportunity to perform at many Classical Piano, as well as, other variety recitals, both in Brazil and the United States, as a soloist and accompanist for Voice, Viola, Violin, Mandolin, Cello, and Double Bass. She participated at the Choir Association of "Canto Coral (Choral Singing)" in Rio de Janeiro, as an Alto.
Amongst her many impressive achievements, Ms. Vivien was awarded First Place at a piano competition at the Music Conservatory Francisco Manuel da Silva in 1978, at the city of Erexim, RS, Brazil, and Second Place at the Sonatina-Sonata Festival Piano Competition at St. Petersburg College in 2008. While working on her Associates of Arts degree at St. Petersburg College, Ms. Vivien was nominated as an Apollo Award Finalist. She also was awarded with the Association of Honors Program Students President Award and the Distinguished Spirit Award. Parallel to her degree, she worked tirelessly, as a volunteer at St. Petersburg College and The Red Cross. Ms. Vivien has been teaching for years at Bringe Music Center in St. Petersburg. She organizes piano recitals for her students to give them the opportunity to share their talent with family and friends. She also attended the Sixth Annual World Piano Pedagogy Conference in Orlando, FL in 2001.
